A week ago I realized that it was time for a bit of life simplification. So I put my Land Cruiser, Honda Fit, and BMW motorcycle up for sale.

Had a deal on the Land Cruiser on Wednesday, guy picked it up today.

Sold the Fit on Friday.

Couple calls and emails on the bike, someone's coming by tomorrow (Sunday) to look at it.

If this keeps up I'll be walking to work soon.

Still, glad it's sorted and the money is in the bank. I'm now officially on a one-project-at-a-time plan from here on out. Y'all are encouraged to remind me of this if I start to drift.

"Hi, I'm Drew and I have a car problem..."

Sounds good Drew. You'll be better off in the long run, and happier for having less stress. Toys are only fun if you can play with/ afford them.

"Toys are only fun if you can play with/ afford them."

Ain't that the truth. Seems like a *lot* of us are in this mostly for the hunt ... and not always for enjoyment after the purchase.

An automotive version of hoarding syndrome?

Come to think of it ... where'd you advertise the things that just sold?
I'll likely be doing the same soon

Craigslist and a great local classified (ksl.com). Honda sold off KSL, Land Cruiser from Craigslist. Also had the Land Cruiser up on a cruiser forum (ih8mud.com). Price them right and they move quick, even in this economy. I had a value amount in mind and got it, so I'm content. Yes, less than I might have gotten in other circumstances, but it's what I needed so no complaints.

I'm usually pretty good with my toy shed, but I let a bit of nostalgia have its way with me. That and a few unexpected and unrelated expenses meant it was time to reevaluate. Luckily it wasn't a particularly expensive lesson, just a reminder of how I work best.

Sounds like it's time to acquire a new guitar...(wink wink nudge nudge)
I've been through that game a bit, and am back at my original set of instruments -- and good for a while. Though I admit I'd love to sample some of what you're putting together. You ever get into mandolin making, you let me know.

Nope, time to settle in and play with the toys I've got for a while. In the meantime I can watch folks like CZ_Dave and feel better.

Steve, You a luthier? I'd love to see some of your work. I like making noise on stringed things with friends. I've never tried it professionally. I have a great appreciation for hand-made instruments.

I have some Bongos and Mariachi's

I grew up in a music family,

dad was a drummer for Vic Damone and Stan Kenton.

I used to have my birthdays at the Coconut Grove

with Freddie Martin and his orchestra, and when dad wasn't

playing with the big bands he played with
Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers
or Frank Zappa and the Muthers of Invention.

I had a very colorful childhood.

I would enjoy hearing what you lay down Drew.

So would I.

After some 17 years of playing together my music partner and I are finally working on a recording. We've always been to busy gigging (or to broke) to sit down and get the work done, but I've got gear now and a good friend who's lending me a really nice microphone.

Your dad played with some great folks. Very cool. Quite the range from big band to Zappa.

Aye. I am. 14 years professionally this April. Mostly violins, violas and cellos. But I've begun to turn my attention back to guitars. Mostly for sanity and fun...There's a banjo project on the horizon thats about teaching a couple of guys some new skills.

I'd link you to my website but I need to finish it first. :wall: (I've been saying that for a year, I'll get around to it, soon. I hope.)
