Well.....I knew it was comming.....

The waiting for good or bad news is the worst part. Went through it a few years ago when I was told the entire department, except 6 of us, were having a mass meeting. I was told not to ask questions, listen to conversations or anything else, just go home and it would be explained in a one on one the next day. Turned out they outsourced everyone in the department, except the 6 of us. But I was sweating bullets for a day. Glad it worked for you.

Glad for ya Billy.

I feel that way every time my wife comes home from work

I'm not really involved with that one.....yet

mehheh. You have a plan?

Oh course I have a plan. How else you think I became shop manager in four months.

Well, as Red Green says: "We're all in this together."

Congratulations Kellysguy, pressure and responsibility, Oh boy! Maybe they are looking for a fall guy. -- elrey

And I didn't figger you fer a "half-empty" kinda guy, el.

Well, lemme put it this way, my life has sucked since birth till I met my wife eight years ago. I'm cautiosly optimistic. I expect the worse to happen and if it does, I was prepared. If not, everything is a pleasant suprise! It has worked well so far.

There was a new guy show up on the scene w/ lots of BMW race experience so there was an off chance of me being replaced. Louisana is an "at-will" state so no reason needed. Things worked out though looks like.

Kinda hard to beat a guy who shows up two hours early and sleeps on a stack of tires to make sure he doesn't get caught in traffic and be late for work.

Glad for ya. Doesn't always work out as you plan it. I used to show up early, open the shop, lights, heat, air compressor, do the work order sorting, THEN punch in....worked as Shop Foreman, wrote invoices, estimates, parts ordering, dealt with customers, AND held a bay down.
Got a new guy (alcoholic ex-cop, good friend of the owner) as Office Manager, set up a new computer system only he had the password for, and set to "default" his name on each completed order.
Never touched a car.
Six months later, boss calls me in, "Well, my good buddy is doing more work than you".
I quit and opened my own shop.

His shop lasted another 6-7 months and was gone.
