Weird Weather This Fall

It is almost December, and we still have green leaves on the trees ! It rained hard a couple of times earlier this month, but no snow or freezing yet. We are in the inland part of SoCal [Elev.3040]. 76 degrees yesterday. What happens in Southern California eventually goes east. Sounds like the east is getting the beating in some places. The top is still down on the TR-6. It is a weird fall for sure. ...J.D.

Up in Northern California it's so cloudy and cold at night astronomy is impossible most times.
I have been living in Pacifica since 1993 and it has never been this bad.

Steve: Yeh, the weather pattern has move way north this year. I am about 60 miles N.E. of Los Angeles, up on the high desert. That usually means the eastern part of the country is going to get slammed this winter. I have been in SoCal all my life with a years away in Northern Mo. and Arizona. ...J.D.

Attending a destination wedding in Oklahoma City this weekend. Looking forward to the visit. Quite different than OC, Southern California. Packing stuff from the back closet wool coats, down jackets, hats and gloves.

You are a better man than I am Gonzo. I make it my habit to fall out of sight about late October and re-appear after New Years. Not because of the weather. It gets below freezing here eventually ever year. I hunker down and enjoy the peace and quiet. I order up some supplies for projects in my shop, turn on the shop heater and go into hermit mode. I find all that holiday stuff just annoying. To each his own. ...J.D.

If anyone is looking for winter, it landed in Chicagoland over the Thanksgiving weekend. 6+ inches in many areas. I think our house had 7-8 inches. If anyone wants some, just let me know. :D

I don't understand why that much precipitation is shutting things down.
When I was a kid in Brooklyn NY, if it snowed 3 feet we went to school and people went to work.
More than that, the streets were impassable.

WE get a few inches here every few years. Up at my cabin can be quite a different story. A few years ago [Feb.2023] we got 9 FEET in about a week ! The local market got crushed. Our church up there had all the trusses cracked. Some homes were lost. We could not get to our cabin for 3 months. Worse snow they had seen in decades. The community has been about 2 years putting some things back together. This year?? No snow at all so far. ...J.D.
