I was photo editing with the cable internet running
background yesterday afternoon. It is always on.
Suddenly my screen "blinked" and opened to my desktop screen
which now had a flat black background, my icons shifted to
the sides and big red letters in the center screen warning
my computer had been attacked and I now had a virus
contamination.
I am pretty well protected so this was a surprise. But I
started running all my scan software in deep mode. All
evening long.
Total failure: warning screen still there. Went into safe
mode and set a long, deep scan while I was asleep overnight.
Nope!! That Darned warning screen still there when I got up.
By now I'm convinced I have no virus, no malware, or spyware-
something else must going on. And it was .
Some malware had changed my desktop photo theme to the virus
warning text with black background. It was a friggin'
photo. I put my photo back in- good to go.
Anyone ever have this occur?
