Weird USPS tracking

Last weekend I ordered a car book (surprise!) and it was mailed on Monday from Watkins Glen, NY to me here in Connecticut.

Take a look at this tracking report:

I wondered if anyone can figure out what's going on here. It's not "lost", as it's been reported each day for quite a while.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
Tom M.

I wonder if it was sent "book rate"?
If so maybe it moves slower that parcel post... just a guess.

Thanks Elliot. It was sent book rate (media mail), but it's the weird tracking info that surprises me.

It leaves Pittsburgh at 7:19 pm, August 8. Then -

August 9, 10, 11 - each time is "9:19 am"

The package is delayed and will not be delivered by the expected delivery date. An updated delivery date will be provided when available. The item is currently in transit to the destination as of August 13, 2017 at 9:04 am. It is on its way to EASTFORD, CT 06242.

USPS, I get those weird tracking messages quite frequently, but eventually the package arrives in good condition. UPS tracking constantly asks for my user name and password! Fedex, I have no issues with. UPS, the packages, even envelopes are always dirty, like they have been kicked around the floor of a filthy truck for a month. Fedex, the packages are always clean and delivered on time. PJ

I had a gift duffle bag being sent for renewing my membership in a certain organization and got an email that my package "has been delivered" in Hawaii! The next day my package arrived in my mail box. Weird.

I remember tracking a package from Chicago. Went to Dallas, went to Chattanooga, went to Atlanta, went to Phoenix, LA, Denver, Portland, then here.
I've had UPS one that apparently were being delayed on purpose with spurious destinations so it didn't get here before the original arrival date...or just sat for days in one spot.

One of my suppliers mailed a package (UPS) from near Morgan Hill California to Portland, Oregon.
Never showed, so he shipped another.
SIX MONTHS LATER the original showed up at the proper address in Portland.

I quit UPS many years ago due to damage, delays, and the scam that is UPS insurance.

What drives me nutz is a OOOPS or even FedUp shipment that gets transferred to USPS locally and they deliver it. If I'm paying for OOOPS or FedUp, they deliver it..don't pass it off.
