My Wife played the Basoon in high school,
& I'd like to find her one.
Can anyone help?

- Doug

Doug - check with your local public/parochial schools (or colleges). They often have used instruments that they'll sell for fund raising.

2 words....pawn shop.

One more....eBay.

No help here but darling daughter played the bassoon in middle school - always swore it played the f*rt noises in the orchestra. Double reed people are er emm different anyway.

Once heard a musician speculate, "what would you do with a happy bassoon player?"

For the same reasons as Doug's wife, My wife wants an Oboe. They're not cheap!
Maybe someday.

Ebay and Craigslist.

Local symphonies.

Here's one!

Our family went through this with a clarinet. Be careful buying an older one that is too cheap. They do wear beyond repair. We were spending more on the annual repairs than the horn was worth. When a new one was purchased it had to be a wooden one for better sound. It is not safe to use a wooden one for marching band in freezing weather because it might crack, so a used plastic one came to live with us. Then she quit band! :cryin::wall:

Check the music shops that rent to the schools. They might have some used rental instruments.

Anyone want a clarinet shaped piece of sh*t?

Use it as part of the exhaust system, you could play "Rule Britannia" as you drive.

My brother is currently creating a little niche hobby business repairing woodwinds for the schools in his school board.

A local music store that had rentals recently went out of business. That's where I found my fiddle for a mere $40, with a bow.
I'll pass on the oboe for now, but thanks.

oh boy I thought at first you wanted a used baboon
