Set off down the coast a ways on Saturday morning, had a bit of disappointment when the charging light started glowing in the Benz. Got to my pal's digs in a couple hours and parked it. Spent the major part of the weekend junking around on Charlotte Harbor and associated waterways, had my 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' fix at the restaurant on Cabbage Key, generally enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere and grand company.
Sunday afternoon, time to return, Diesela didn't have enough battery to crank up so we had to jump-start her to motor back up to th' hovel. Couldn't get to the alternator R&R until yesterday, then it was a five hour ordeal. The thing is hung down low, NOT easily accessible. Two through-bolts and a couple spacers are all holding it in place... none of which would easily line up. Had mirrors, flashlight, hammers and drifts to work things into alignment. And just opening the hood on this thing results in making me appear to have spent an eight-hour shift in a coal mine.
When she is running, there's nothing like it. When she malfunctions it's always an ordeal. Paid the piper for a weekend "playin' out". *sheesh*
