I just got my wheels back from the "Repair Shop" (I had these folks do the work: https://www.wheel-repairs.com/ ). I had them stripped, checked for roundness, trueness, and repaired (2 of them had sections of the lip missing).

Seeing the finish on the stripped wheels almost makes me want to leave the centers as they are, and just take some SOS pads to the lip area to give them a 'machined' look. I think the wheels would look very sharp with the textured blasted centers and machined/polished lips.

However, the more I think about it the more I want to continue with my original plan to paint the centers Dupli-Color Graphite Metallic. This mostly stems from my desire to do as little work as possible to keep them looking sharp. I can just see the textured surface of the raw aluminum catching and retaining brake dust and making for a brutal cleaning affair.

I suppose another option is to polish up the lip area and clear coat the whole wheel... hmmmmm...

I'll have to post some pictures later this weekend when I have my camera and time on my hands.

I'd say coat the entire wheel whichever colors you decide. It helps to keep oxidation down and makes 'em easier to clean.
