Ok, I have the engine rebuilt, on the car, bolted in.... But I cant get the trans xross member to mount. One side, either side, will match but the other side is two inches to the rear,,, what did I screw up? I rea ly want to be diving it tomorrow and this is the only thing realy that might stop me.

Worst part is I have this trouble every time

Do you have it going in the right direction? It should be with the curve of the bracket pointing rearward.

Isn't there a bit of play in the subframe?

You probably have the engine part of the motor mounts on the back side of the subframe mounts. They need to be on the front side of the subframe mounts unless you want to redrill the trans mounting holes in the body.

Todd hit it on the head, I had the mounts behind the subframe... I am not sure how I did that, Thanks Todd. This is why I love this forum, so many smart people in one place

David, I mounted mine like that . Though I had a reason and I had to redrill the holes

The tab for the motor mounts goes behind the subframe tabs......why would you put them infront moving the engine forward in the car? There is only about a 1/4" difference between behind or infront of the subframe tab. Factory was behind the subframe tab.

Actually it's a half . I thought so to but was proved wrong. I moved mine as I could not get my fresh air intake on with out beating the heck out of it.
