Webpage software....

We programmers are an odd bunch sometimes, Tony. I will go out of my way for clean, neat, elegant code -- even if the end result is not particularly different than what a product like Front Page would produce. Part of it, I guess, is that I spend all day at work doing coding, and am particular about my tools.

Doesn't mean my tool set is intrinsically better, but that for me they work the way I want them to.

Thii site runs primarily under PhP and as such I use a PhP Editor (similar to a text editor, but it highlights certain parts of the PhP code to make it easy to read/follow. I tried FP for some other sites I've had and I know it is good at what it does. However, I did not like it, but that is just because I like to get into the guts of the site more and not so much interested in the easy - wysiwyg functionality, though I can understand the appeal.

I've gotta agree with the other programmer types about FP. I use Arachnophilia, a free editor like Basil uses. It colors different components and has some other semi-automatic features that I rarely use. Before that, it was Notepad.

I never used FP but as webmaster for a boat club, I get submissions from others to post. I tell them, make it right the first time 'cause I'm not gonna fix it for you. That crap is just too much trouble to read. But I do understand and appreciate its appeal for non-programmer types.

Is HotMetal still around? Even the "Composer" warez in Navigator/Mozilla is better than FP, IMO.
