Hello BCFers

My BN7 is set up with the 3 Weber DCOE45 carbs. I've run the car up North for many years and, after several trial and errors, managed to balance and jet the carbs to run in a civilized fashion when cruising yet with a "spirited" performance at higher revs.
I've recently moved the brute to Florida where I have the good fortune to spend most of the winter. I love to drive the car here and have many more opportunities to do so than in Edmonton. However, I now get intermittant "coughing/sputtering/backfire" from the engine compartment. The Webers do not seem to be too happy with their new home.
It has been suggested that the 2000 feet lower elevation above sea level, and/or the high humidity here may be factors.
What do you think and what can I do about it?

Hi Jim, Sounds like your carbs are running lean down there. I think the only thing you can do is re jet and balance the carbs. It will be easier this time---Fwiw Keoke
 
We should've traded cars.

I set up mine (BN6, but with a BN7 3000 engine) when I lived in Louisiana, and it was as perfect as you could imagine, even responsive to minimalist throttle movement without any gasping.

Moved to Ohio and spent several (!!!) hundred dollars on jets (mostly low speed/idle circuit, but mains and air corrector too) to get it running right again. Barely 600 feet difference in elevation.

Interesting to note, but I had to go richer too...
 
Which had the higher elevation Randy?
