Weber Problems

All,

Regretably, the only time I seem to visit this forum is when I have a problem. The last time I drove my '79 MGB was back in November, so my last post had to be around that time frame.

Anyway, I started the B on Saturday after a jump start and she sounded strong, however the idle was way high (3,000rpm high). No matter how much I played with the throttle it wouldn't drop. The idle was at 900rpm back in November. The carb is a brand-new Weber down draft that worked great. What could possible go wrong in a matter of a few months? Granted I didn't drive it for a while. Has anyone had similar problems/experiences? If so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pop it apart and clean up the throttle bore around where the butterflies seat. Chances are there has been some aluminum corrosion there and a ridge is present..

Oh and checking for a sticky choke is also a good idea..
