Just installed a Dvg kit from Moss on a 1978 midget. It started up and runs(very fast for a Midget)-good news, bad news-hard starting, fuel smell, idle up and down. Water choke. I have looked up info on this site and am going to look at? 1.Plugs-I think there is too much gas-fuel pressure(have stock mechanical pump)-how do I tell if there is too much fuel pressure? 2. Leaks-is there a manifold leak-I hope not-installed a new gasket-what do I look for? 3.--Or?? thanks Jim

A good spray around the carb and manifold with carb cleaner with the engine running will tell you if there are leaks.

jbuffalo,

I installed a weber downdraft on my midget last year and like to never got it right. It fed rich, rev up, down..sound familiar? Look for gasoline on the block below the intake....this was sign it wasn't flush. Turns out, there were two spots (Mounting bolts) on the exhaust that interfered with the intake seating flush. I grinded those two spots down and reinstalled the intake...ran like a champ ever since.
