General MG Weber DGV and cold weather

My 74 midget 1275 with a Weber 3236 dgv was running fine until cooler weather hit. Now it acts as if it isn't warming up to operating temps and stalls out at lower rpms unless the choke is pulled part way. I put in a hotter thermostat and now it runs just above normal on the gauge, but the problem persists. The carb is rebuilt with the idle speed screw at 1 turn in and the idle mixture screws at 1 3/4 out. Timing is also spot on. Has anyone experienced fuel condensing on the insides of the manifold at colder temps and has anyone successfully tried heating the manifold, perhaps with running the heater hose beneath the manifold? I read an excellent article on the benefits of heated manifolds and know people are doing this on other models.
