weber carburetor linkage

i was out in my fhc the other night and the carb linkage for my twin webers came apart on the freeway. apparently i forgot to tighten up the locking nuts. anyway i lost the threaded rod that goes between the rod end bearings that connects the rod arms and the rod end bearings (heim joints?). m5 threads on rod.

anybody know a source of adjustable carb linkage consisting of female rod end bearings and threaded rods? everything i use at work seems to big for this application. maybe i'll check the grainger's catalog.

oddly, it seemed to run better on one carburetor?

I am installing Weber DGV's on my 7 at the moment. You could try Pierce Manifolds. They carry the weber kits and i feel sure they could help you with this. I believe they are in California. Just do a search for them. jb

i found a baja bug place that will sell the linkage for $20 a set. i didn't like pierce's stated policy of we will contact you but give me your credit card number in advance. graingers sells the rod ends reasonably, but i can't figure out where to get the die for reverse threading a rod.

MSC is an easy place to mail order a LH die. Your local hardware store may even have one.

i found some linkage at a shop that sells parts for sand rails. $30 for a set. they like to use weber idc carbs on vw powered sand rails.
