weber carb rebuild HELP!

I feeling good now
https://yfrog.com/0zrebuilt3436weberz

I messed with the timing and idle mixture and have less hesitation than in the video. I could not find a vacuum source for my gauge. the vacuum at base of carb only pull vacuum on acceleration.

Now who knows what that rattle is in motor on deceleration?

Look for the easy stuff first. Loose exhaust clamps, something vibating contact between motor and body, exhuast or tranny and body.loose ancillary mounting pionts cracked heat sheild oh wait DGV you probley dont have one. Air cleaner rubbing on bonnet. throttle cable rubbing on bonnet? This is a short list Good luck Its british the squeaks and rattles grimlin will see you coming and move to another part of the car he is hard to catch!

You should be getting really good gas mileage with the weber. I can get near 50 if I drive it easy and mid to high 30s when I drive it real hard.
:eeek: Whoa! Really?! Wake-up call for me...I drive like a granny, do all the hypermiler tricks, and still get only 24 mpg. I'm gonna haveta figure this out!
I have not got enough data to form a good average with the gearing I have now, but with the 1275, weber dgv, and 3.90 gearing and driving 60mph on the interstate on some long trips, I got 37mpg, around town I got around 30. I have a 5 speed and 3.55 rear gear now, so at 65 I am at 3000 rpms and 55 at 2500 rpms. That kicked up my highway mileage a bit, but still its around the low 30s just stop and go around town. I been doing a mix and usually get about 160 miles from full down to 1/4 tank when I fill up with around 4 gallons. I am a hyper miler kind of guy too, that is why I went with the cruiser gearing. No other midget like mine, that is for sure.

HOLY COW !!!!

I'm gett ing b/w 24-27 right now w/ my DGV, BUT, it's doesn't stumble. 3.90 and a 4 speed.

Smooth thottle transition no matter how I drive it an I have it adjusted lean. Timming is at 12-14 BTDC.

I plan on going 3.55 and 5 speed so you'll have company soon. (but w/ a 1500)

Well I drove it on my dirt road around my neighbor hood. The hestitation will need attention. got to figure that one out now. but it goes hard everwhere eles.

Now to get some brakes and a stiffer clutch

Thanks for hanging in here with me. I really feel good about getting this carb to work, plus I saved over $200.00

There should be a checkvalve (probably a ball bearing with retainer) behind the pump diaphram in the carb body, altho I can't see it in the drawing referenced.

It shows the primary venturi as fixed in the body, yet your photo:
https://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5010/mgmidgetneedle02.jpg
shows what appears to be the venturi lifted and not properly seated.

There sometimes is an O-ring between the venturi (see #83) and the body to allow proper fuel draw.

I can't remember on Webers, but when those O-rings go bad or are missing, creates runability issues.

I have a DGV ( came out of some kind of Jeep, I was told ) on a 1275 in the Bugeye with a 5-spd and I can't imagine anything working a whole lot better. There is a bit of hesitation, mainly when cold, and this carb doesn't much like cold. The trick is to learn how to let the motor catch up and not punch it, and you can pretty much work through the break. Just pause slightly in the middle of the stroke. These carbs like to rev, and when you get into the second venturi, it's a kick. . When I got it, I just posted a note on one of these boards and asked what the base setting was on a " replacement" DGV, and whatever I was told has worked out fine. On the other hand , I picked up a nice pair of H2's and I am going to try that. The 45DCOE that came on the car was just a bit too much, even though I had it choked down to a 38, I think.
Bill

I guess I'm the only guy on the planet that has a DGV with no flat spot. Then againb, it cost me almost $300

Someone mentioned a little blip between gears which works great. The performance is great other than that. Cranks and starts on the spot clear though throttle response.

Since I have the carburator cleaner I made try messing with the extra SUs I have for kicks

Know that the higher you gear is, the lower the rpm will be at moderate highway speeds and less airflow and any hesitation will get worse or might have been at a point that you never noticed it. Mine was just as I eased off the gas and then eased back into it, just a small hickup but it was worse with the higher gear.

I can cruise 4th gear at 25-30 mph and either dump it or sneak up on it and it still doesn't hickup.
