Can not figure out where the needle goes, I went on line it showed the needle but not where it went. I tried to figure this out for hours. I remember takeing it out because I had to shave a scredriver down to make it work. I am going crazy

could you please referto the numbers on the weber drawing that I have a link to, I do not know anything about carburators so the names of parts go over my head. I only have one needle valve

That is the "Accelerator Pump Blanking Needle" and goes in the lower left hole at the corner of the body in your picture.

Looks liek the idle mix screw to me. Got an extra spring laying around too?

No spring- I found where it went, looking at the photo of my carburator look at the Fuel Bowl and see the number 11024.

From that point go left and it is the hole along the edge in the corner below bright brass plug. I was thinking the whole time that hole was a screw hole for the screw that held the top of carb on to the body

#23 on the weber link didn't show where it went

I will put it on tonight and it will run wonderful..........

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo?

Got home yesterday and found out I had to go to a "viewing" 35 miles away, then on the way home the wife bought me Mexican. so got home late. I did go out and install the carburator on the Midget with all the linkage and stuff. turnned the fuel pump on and filled up the bowls and checked for leaks.

My shop has a overhead apartment and the exhaust is presently open so I decided against trying to crank and start car since it was late and the lights were off upstairs.

WEll...........Still not operating correctly. it will only run under throttle. I let off the throttle and it act like it is not getting gas. I will take a hard look at the used SUs now that someone has for sell

Throttle plate position (idle speed screw), mixture (could be screwed down tight), vacuum leak (open port somewhere).

How many turns rich is your mixture screw?

I started with one turn then went 1 1/2 etc till it was like 4 no difference, then I turned it all the way in to close no differrence.

I don't like giving up and have been on line today thinking of maybe trying to buy a complete kit. I want all new brass plus kit. this carb seems so simple to give up. I think I may have confused the primary and secondary emulision tubes, plus air corrector jets, I did not pul the idle jets out etc..

So I am thinking if I can get all new stuff and ID exact location I will have a better chance of rebuilding. I am learning tho which is good.

The e-bay SUs are getting to high to make buying them an "easy button"

Did you blow the passages out with air and a nozzle before you assembled it?
Really sounds like you have something plugged.

Personally, I would A) remove the carb, B) remove the idle mixture screw, C) remove the top, D) spray carb cleaned into the hole where you removed the mixture screw, seeing if it sprays out the hole in the venturi, just above the closed throttle plate, then E) open the plate, seal the idle hole in the venturi with your finger tip, and spray again, seeing if you have open ports the other way.
Generally goes through an idle correction jet, and under the main jet.

There are usually idle jets, primary and secondary, high on the sides of the carb outsides, under a retaining brass threaded plug that you need to remove and blow out, too.

Thanks..I will check the thread out. I am really worried I have emulision tubes and connector jets in wrong places. cann't find out any way to ID parts and get in correct holes. I am definiatly going to buy a $30.00 kit and try again
