I'd seen posts about this place.It was an old BL dealer that was still being
used as a British car repair shop,& used car dealership.
I just found out that I've been driving by it many times (work is only two blocks away).
It's an auto upholstery shop now,& they painted over all of the signs.The owner passed away about
1-1/2 years ago.
 
Doug - that was still Webb Motors as recently as five years ago. One of the few places which kept British car parts in stock. Mr. Webb was still running the place back then.

I came across this place by accident one day when I got off the interstate to gas up. Actually turned around in the driveway.
 
That place reminds me of a place in Denver that I used to love to spend time at - called "Hack's Little Lot." They specialized in British sports cars (used) and always had a great selection of MGs, TRs and Jags.
 
My first "hangout" was Boffo Motors, in New Brighton, PA. After the Air Force it was Sewickley Sales and Service. I was there so much the owner offered me a job. :wink:
 
For me it was Tony's Mercedes Garage in Fort Worth in the 1960s. Ah the beauty, power, and reliability of well-engineered automobiles.

That's where my parents got their first (used) M-B, almost exactly like this 1960 220Sb:

Does anyone know if Webb Motors gave out license plate frames
with the dealership name on them? I'd like to find a set of those.
 
My wife almost bought the BGT in photo 1 as we were passing thru. I worked at Wayne Jones Imported Motors in Miami (BMC early 70s). No current photo available as the building site was absorbed and renewed into the mess that is now Dadeland.

Doug, I found a 1962 YOM plate for my Healey by a search on Ebay. May be a long shot but worth a try.
 
That Mercedes looks very much like the 1963 220 SEb I had back around 1967. Mine was darker blue. 4-speed, steering wheel shift, no power steering. Even my wife drove it. On the test drive from a dealer in New Haven, an oil line broke under the dash, filling my lap with hot oil. The salesman figured it was the end of the deal but I figured it would give me a bargaining chip. I bought the car and kept it for several years, re-chroming the radiator and installing new shocks I bought in Lisbon, Portugal at mechanics price. It was starting to rust and I reluctantly traded it in on a new 1969 Datsun 510. The 510 is a story for another day.

We had a 220SE like that only black w/ red interior. Best I recall it was a '64. It was a beautiful car until a high school girl hit it from the side in a parking lot and tore half the back end off. I replaced it with a Buick :(.
 
What Buick? My dad had a 65 Wildcat with the 425 when I was a kid and that thing was a beast. We also had a 66 220SE, a 68 220D, a 79 450SEL, and later a 84 300D, as well as a smattering of other cars.
 
Skylark I think. It really was a pretty decent car but certainly not the classiness of the Benz.
 
Skylark was a pretty decent car, until the seventies when all American cars became junk almost overnight.
