TR2/3/3A Weatherstrip Question

This weatherstrip is too thick, such that I cannot install the spare tire cover with it in place. Any tips on install? And can you confirm the lip is oriented properly? (on outer perimeter of weatherstrip channel). Thanks

Pat

It is correctly oriented but I can't tell from the picture if the rubber has a small groove or channel in it. If the rubber is square, then it is not correct. A new rubber seal is cheap right now at VB.

I thought the 'lip' went to the inside. That's the way I put it on. Pat

I have the same problem with the seal I got from TRF.They said they sell lots of them with no complaints of being to thick,so maybe just the fit of my spare wheelcover.I ordered a new one(tore the old during removal) and am going to try and cut it down about an 1/8 to 3/16 off the back. The seal shape is a 3/8 square with a 1/4 lomg x1/8 wide protrusion or tongue at 45dergees off one corner,no grove.Would like to hear how you make out or if there are different seals available.
Thanks
Tom

Tom,
I checked both of my TR3's and the lip (protrusion) is to the inside. This allows the seal to be against the flat plate not the turned edge of the cover. Both seals were purchased from Moss, and both look OK. Good luck.
