I had a few days off over the holidays so I've been making some progress. Today the body came off the frame. I know the frame will need some work but I need to clean it up and do some evaluation to decide how much. A lot of the work on the body tub is complete but I needed to get the body off to patch the trunk floor. (I love this stuff!)

Now that's what I am talking about. Nice job of work there.
I dream and dread the day I start that process. Interested in knowing how this tub had the paint removed?
Keep it up!

I'm interested in how the bare metal stays so shiny. Mine
gets a thin layer of rust overnight. Is it coated with light oil?

I stripped the tub in my garage. Much of the paint was removed with an abrasive pad in a grinder or drill. That makes a real mess! I used paint stripper in some of the hard-to-get areas.

I haven't done anything in particular to keep the flash rust away. It just doesn't seem to do that here. I've stripped other cars and have never had an issue. It will be getting some epoxy primer soon.

I used GatorGrit and Norton pads. They didn't have a specific grit - just 'coarse.' These are fibrous pads with grit on them. Being open seems to keep them from loading up as you work.
