Well.......now I know what happened to all of those 100 mpg carbs from the 60's that the oil companies and car makers bought the patent rights to and kept from the public. It looks like somebody snuck one out....
EDIT...If this is true and I hope for our countries sake that it is, there had better be some serious security at that plant, 24/7/365. Like military level stuff.

Mr. Pelmear has said that he employs more precise tolerances and manufacturing techniques to decrease heat and energy loss and increase the efficiency of the internal combustion engine. He said he has more than quadrupled the industry average engine efficiency of about 8 percent.
Sounds to me like he is in violation of the second law of thermodynamics. Bet we will see a warrant for his arrest in the future!

Otto cycle reciprocating internal combustion engine efficiency can be improved. But not to the level that this guy is claiming.
Smokey Yunick's last project before he died was on an efficient engine for autos. It was NOT an otto engine, as he had explored all ways to improve efficiency and the otto cycle design was just NOT capable of improving better than about 35-40%. That included Stirling Cycle, Diesels and just about any other type....
Smokey was almost to the point of production when the gas crunch that was occuring so the major mfr's stepped back. This is the guy whose patents were quite numerous in the auto industry..
I give a lot more credence to Smokey Yunick's work than this guy...

There are a gazillion factors affecting how much power it takes to drive a car at a steady 60 mph, but a few quickie calculations...I hope my thinking is right, but the real world seems to verify this...
It takes 20-30 HP to propel an average car at 60mph. Let's assume 25 HP...that equals about 18.7 KW.
There are 33 KWH in a gallon of gas.
Divide the 33/18.7 and you get 1.764. Multiply by the 60 miles you've driven in the hour, and you get 105 mpg. So, see it is possible...if the engine is <span style="font-weight: bold">100%</span> efficient! Since they are only about 25% efficient, you'll see more like 25 mpg...which is a more realistic figure.
