Is anyone planning on going to the Vintage Grand Prix in Watkins Glen, September 8? We go just about every year, it’s quite an event and a party that dominates the whole town, just like the old days.

There is also a 100-mile Roadster Tour that includes two parade laps on the original Watkins Glen Grand Prix road course.

September 8 only!!! In reviewing the literature, it appears that the festival is for only one day this year, not the weekend as in years past. I've edited the post above accordingly.

Dave, The festival is always only one day (friday) the rest of the weekend is the actual vintage race up at the track.
I will be attending both events. the festival on fri. and up at the track on sat.
On friday I have been offered a ride as navigator in my friends Superformance Cobra for the Glenora Run (just one of the roadster tours running that day)
and my mom and dad are entering thier 69 MGB in the run as well.
So it should be a great day (as long as it's not pouring rain).
Hope to see you there.

Banjo, thanks for the clarification, I was a little disappointed, but what you say makes sense.

I've entered the Healey in the Glendora rallye, so maybe you'll finally get to see it. Should I look for you at the morning registration?

BTW, I will probably not run if it rains. You really shouldn't keep art out in the rain! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Seneca Lodge is always a good spot hehehhe. Although that may not be Daves kinda venue.
I'm sure we can come up with a good time and place.
As for the rain issue, I'm sure we'll be running wet or dry. My friend even drives his Cobra all winter as long as the roads are clear, so a little rain just makes things intresting.
I bet morning registration would be a good time to hook up Dave. And Monkeywrench, I'll find a time to get with you. that'll be fun.

That wouldn't be very funny to have the Mormon bishop at Seneca Lodge, would it! Well, maybe for lunch!

My uncle owned a local pub for years there, he collected quite a bit of paraphernalia and tons of autographs and candid, off the wall quips from celebs and drivers over the years. I'll have to induce the family to circulate it. See you there.
