Water Pump Spitting

Looking under the hood there are little fluid splatter marks on the engine. They are coming from the thermostat cap. I took teflon tape to the brass nut but it seems like there is a little opening at the back of the piece where it touches the housing - does this make sense? what can I do?

I had water pump splatter too a couple of years ago. There's a weep hole on the side of the water pump (driver side) when the bearings or seals or whatever is in there goes bad, it leaks. The fan blows the leaks all over the place which makes it hard to tell exactly where the leak originated.

Changing the water pump was relatively easy, getting the fan clutch back on the water pump was the hard part.

Could it be from the thermostat housing? I went trhough 3 that were defective from bad castings, pin holes so small you couldn't see them but they left water constantly dripping over my clean engine.
