Water pump problem

The water pump on my BN6 seems to be going out. It is getting noisy, has some minor play when I move the fan blade, but no water leaks. There is not a lubricating plug. I would guess it is a wick style, due to the age of the car. I have added oil through a casting opening, but this has not changed the noise much.
Do I need to replace it?
I do get stares while at the stop light.

I have found bearings for the pump at moss, but not much else including, oil seals. They do have a complete replacement, ( I guess no core return required) but it would be nice to replace just the parts worn.
Also not sure if taking it apart might not cause other issues.
Any advice??

babakahwa, so what!, we all get stares when we drive our healeys however in your case id just change the pump, remember also there are several pully sizes i think at least two, so measure yours "thickness of the pulley" so there wont be any further "upsetness", dont wory more will be forthcoming!, :yesnod:
