General TR Water Pump Housing Depth?

Hi,

Does anyone happen to know the depth of the waterpump housing ? I understand that the clearance between impeller and housing is critical for a centrifigal pump like this to work. It should be ~0.020" or less.

So, I am interested in the measurement from the face of the pump housing where the water pump mounts to the rear of the housing where the impellers interface.

My old waterpump was 4-vanes and the impeller vanes were 13/16" deep. My current waterpump is 6-vanes (curved). Interestingly, the leading edge of the curved vane is only 7/16" deep and the trailing edge is 11/16". Leads me to believe that is waay too much clearance.

Ah, thanks. I'll have to re-watch and pay more attention. I'll report back what I learn.

Flying Dutchman's rebuilds a 1954 Chevy pump in his video. At the beginning of "Part 2" video, he states the critical clearance for impeller to housing is 0.030" to 0.050". Good to know but, still doesn't tell me the depth of the Triumph TR housing which is the info I seek.

So, not sure this fully reliable but, another gentleman on the TR Register forum in the UK posted a while ago his water pump housing is 23mm deep, which equates to 0.906". My prior water pump impellers are 0.875" tall from the face of the pump, which translates to 0.031" clearance, not including the thickness of the gasket. Not bad but, could be better. Ideally, clearance with gasket should be <0.020".

But, my current 6-vane water pump is WAY out of spec.
