Watching the Olympic Closing

Does this count as "motorsports"? A lot of people got irate about these, calling them an improper product-placement in the Olympics. Yeah, right, it's not like all the different manufacturers of sports gear didn't get their logos and names out there too

Hmmm, I wonder what their saying about the robot cameras along the track? I think the little Mini was a good idea! Not the mini, but the technology used in this Olympics was staggering. Most fantastic light setup I've ever seen! Old saying is you can't please everyone! Some would probably say there were too many lights! Human nature I guess, some will complain just to be noticed! Must lead a dull life. PJ

The online coverage and quality was very good without any voice overs. I have a calendar app on my tablet that had a list of the sports I was interested in and when they were airing so it was easy to keep track.

I really hope the next winter olympics is as well done "online", I don't think the regular broadcast is going to be significantly different anyway.

Bravo. I can't help but compare the online to the NBC coverage. Being there in person is a heck of a lot more similar to the online coverage: you watch and have your own thoughts and emotions, with the excitement of the crowd all around. The TV coverage seemed to concentrate on "color" and "witty remarks". I remember many years ago a parody of Howard Cosell: at the moment of the overtime game-winning touchdown, Howard says "and that guy also crochets and really likes strawberries!"

I watched some of the Olympics on the iPad using the app to see sports I had missed on TV. With the multi-channel coverage on NBC, I did get to move around to different sports during the day. And our 3 year-old grandson got into a number of new sports to watch including bicycle racing and volleyball. I really enjoyed the team handball, water-polo, and the rowing events. I look forward to that the technology will be at in 18 months for the Winter Olympics. And yes, I loved the "Minis" carrying the equipment around the field during events.
