Recorded it and have just watched the first of two episodes on PBS. Good stuff - Ken Burns has done it again!

With what he and Novick did on the Vietnam war, my opinion of their productions went a bit to the negative side.

Did watch the Franklin programs, seemed to follow what I'd known before. Th' 'mits hadn't read biographies before so she enjoyed it as insight into the man. Will say it was well done as a production.

He's no historian that's for sure, he's a good film maker though. All of his works are derivative, which is okay for a film maker, but they are not usually as good as the books and whatnot that they are based on. He does have a mass appeal and I have shown clips of some of his films in class just because he can build a compelling narrative. I take anything with his name on it with a grain of salt.

Have to remember that a "Ken Burns" film isn't necessarily produced and directed by Ken Burns. Do a search on "Florentine Films".

My great, great, great(?) Uncle.

Speaking of Ken Burns, NAMI National is having their annual NAMI Conference virtually this year (in June) and guess who's coming:

Franklin is one of my heroes. Among his accomplishments, he started my Alma Mater, the U. of Pennsylvania. He also liked "low women".
