General TR Washer for Overdrive Plug

Hi

Changing my trans fluid next weekend. Are there any better alternatives to the hard fiber washer that goes under the OD drain cap? What is it's function: is it a gasket or a washer? In the past I have put a coat of RTV Blue on there to help it seal.

I looked at McMaster Carr but, did not see any suitable substitutes. I have no problem with the hard fiber version, just doubtful it does a good job sealing the trans

If you are talking about the large brass drain plug for the screen, I bought an O-ring at Ace hardware to replace the fiber gasket. I then only had to tighten the plug snug. It lasted 7 years and 7 tranny fluid changes...I sold the car but it is likely still going today!

I did a light smear of RTV Blue to seal it nicely. I also noticed that the brass cap was uneven from PO using odd wrenches on it so did some filing to level out. The combination made for a good seal
