Warwick Healey Motor Company Archive

Is this the place we get our BMIHT certs?

No, the certs come from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Museum and Archives at Gaydon. Their records are microfilm copies of the original build records that were documented on the cards that accompanied each car down the assembly line. These records were also manually transcribed into large "ledger books" that used to be available to the public by arrangement with the BMIHT staff. Because of significant wear and tear to the ledger books, these were also microfilmed.

A while back, I posted a request to this forum for someone who lives reasonably close to BMIHT and who might be willing to go there periodically to research BJ8s for me in the archives. I got no response to this request. For the last 15 years, I did have someone who most graciously did this task for me, and it was the main reason that I have been able to document BMIHT data for thousands of BJ8s (beyond the 1,019 actual certificates I have acquired). Several other people have done this on a one-time basis. Unfortunately, my researcher has developed significant health problems that make it unlikely that he will be researching any more. That is a real loss to the BJ8 community.

And now, something a bit different. Maybe another forum member here can repost elsewhere too.

To all subscribers to the WHMCA Bulletin
Dear all,
This email is not to inform you of the latest edition of the Bulletin, although the next one is not far away.
During April I had the privilege of visiting the MG Car Club in Abingdon and the newly opened Rootes Archive near Banbury.
I have written reports on both those visits and although they contain little Healey information (MG a little, Rootes non, except that the Sunbeam Tiger was assembled by Jensen Motors as was the 'Big Healey' bodies): I thought that you would welcome an insight into these two organisations.
As always, you can choose yourself whether to click on these links or not.
If you do, I hope that you enjoy what you find.

Hi All,
So having owned a couple of Bugeye Sprites (yes, I know this is the forum for big Healeys), one aspect which has never been answered in the Terry Horler book (the Bible for Sprite history) , or by anyone else of knowledge of this issue. Bugeye (Frogeye) Sprites have a number stamped into the sheet metal on the engine side of the right footwell. As far as I know, it has never been determined if the number was stamped by John Thompson Motor Pressing (made the frame) or by Pressed Steel Company (made the body and assembled it to the frame). I was wondering if there is a contact person at the Warwick Healey Motor Company Archive who may be able to answer this question, not just for me, but for the entire Bugeye family. Thanks, Scott in CA
