Vote, just vote.

We have early voting here in N.C. I drove my Spitfire to the polls and cast my votes on Friday. Nice sunny day, 68 degrees, top down... Relieved alot of pressure. Hmmmm... maybe I should do it again...

I've never understood why Americans don't vote. Especially the low income and poor folk. Just can't understand it.

So many have given so much for our right to vote. How can we let them down by not voting?

Please, as Jack said, just vote! :yesnod:

Boss Tweed would be proud, don't forget to shave so you'll look different. :cooler:

I'm in for a long day on Tues. :wall: Working as a poll inspector, 6am to whenever we are done counting!...Just my small effort towards helping save Palm Beach County embaressment again.

I have enjoyed this political season. An amazing race.

I do not generally express my opinions in the community of British car owners, that's not why I have a British car.

WOW! a non-political political thread. amazing! Just waiting for my chance at the booth. My vote will definatly be cast!
Polls show this year should be a record turnout for voters. Excellent!

I have to chime in my resounding applause to those of you who are working at the polls and spreadng the word about getting out and voting! I can't help but feel like a true American when I excercise this right!
I do wish however, that more people would be involved more often that just every 4 years since to be honest, those small races that occur locally from mayor to school board members actually have a greater direct effect and impact on your everyday life. So, as you go to the polls on Tuesday...and revel in the joy of being a true American....remember you have this opportunity A LOT more often than just once every four years!

I agree with that!

We just had an election here in Canada and only 59% of eligible voters showed!

Please do better than this, so your leaders know you care!

The other 41% were down here voting in our election

Bad Boss, bad.

Hay, I started a fun thread.

Basil:

That's bad, True, but bad

Dave

In an local election we had 66 people vote out 3000-3500, as an election judge we were bored, so we got rid of the "dead" people. yep 12 of them. only one suspiciously " rose from the dead" voted years before 1972. We were surprised that we were complimented for a number of years after for taking the initiative to clean things up. tt aka oldgoaly

If any are so inclined, I'll be glad to PM or email you the prayer I used to close our "Prayers of the People" during services yesterday - straight from our Book of Common Prayer. "Prayer for an Election". Think it says it all, with no partisanship. Or, you can access it here - bottom of the second page.

In the last Detroit, MI mayoral election the city gave out absentee ballots already filled in.

All you had to do was sign it and send it back.

In Australia, its compulsory to vote (used to be a $50 fine for not showing up). And they had preferential voting - so a candidate can not "split the vote".

As a newly minted US Citizen, I plan to exercise my democratic right (and perhaps the left one too) for the first time on Tuesday.

Actully have though of changing my name to "None of the Above" and running for office myself!

Ain't democoracy fun. (Perhaps it explains the sucess of those "reality" shows like Big Brother and such)

Rob.
