Ok, I'm in Denver visiting sister-in-law and everone is out and I'm bored. So....a poll to see what kind of harware and OS we are all using.

I can't vote! I run Fedora 15 on a Dell D610 laptop!

Feeling left out in the cold.

Forsaken by women and men.
Vowing over and over,
I'll never run Linux again."

all my life I've been an "other" ...

Hey, where's my post??
I posted I have a newer PC with XP

Okay, now that I think I've finally mastered my new puter I can say: Windows 7, Equus, Intel i7 chip, 4 gb, 64 bits. I'm told that's good. I have discovered that it only is happy with 'new' programs, must be compatible with Windows 7 and not an older program that's upgraded. Has gone back to it's seller 4 times. Hopefully this is it and I can now begin the serious task of game playing and posting on the BCF forum.

:thankyousign:

Made a mistake. I have new PC with 7 not Vista.

Sorry

Oh lord, lets see.
Home made core2 duo CPU @ 3ghz 3GB ram, running 64 bit Fedora 15 feeding a 52" Sony 3D led TV, used to have XP on it.
Home made core2 duo CPU @ 2.8ghz 4GB ram, running 64 bit Win7 with two lcd monitors.
Toshiba laptop given to me by a friend, now running 32 bit Fedora 14.
Older Win XP machine, using some spare CPU I had, running XP. Used for guitar effects.
Old P3 multi processor machine with 2 1Ghz CPUs. Mostly retired, but I'll be dusting it off to do slide scans in the near future.
Viewsonic Gtablet running an alpha version of Android Honeycomb.

OOh great, now your completely upset the balance of the universe!

and even though I'm the older? PC with XP there's the little matter of the ipad!

NO WAY am I "upgrading" to satisfy Mr. Billionaire Gates. I've got XP Pro, had it for a LONG time, and it works.

Home, newer Netbook dual core CPU w/ WinXP + Firefox 5, dual boot w/ Ubuntu using Firefox 3.

Work, iMac Mac OSX 10.5 w/ Firefox 5.

Well, I have both new and older machines with both XP and Win7, plus a newer Mac with Leopard but I can only vote once. So, I voted for the machine I use most and the one I prefer over all the others - newer PC with Win7.

Not to put too fine a point on this, but if we can't vote (don't have PC or Mac), then how can we see the poll results?

T.

Thanks Dave! 18 in the poll, so I'm taking it as a good approximation of Pub posters.

I think most webservers these days actually record the browser and o/s of each connection. Basil would likely have a more detailed "warez" count already logged on his BCF server.

Tom

Yup. :iagree:

And the machine I normally use is this CentOS 5.5 x64 install on a Core2 Duo and MSI 975X Platinum board.
There ~is~ a Micro$hite XP Pro machine in th' hovel but it is outnumbered by the Linux machines 4 to 1.

You're gonna love it, Yiz. Put as much RAM in it as ya can. And ya went for the x64 bit "ultimate" version of 7, yes?
