Well i need a good no damage Le font Spoiler.

What’s yer hurry partner? Sit down & rest a spell and tell us about yourself?

Anyway welcome aboard – you could try the BCF classifieds. But if nobody can help here beyond that I would Ebay or check some of the used parts dealers.

Who knows ya might get lucky!

His name is Keenan Bash. He is 17 and knows nothing about MGBs, or what he's doing, but has a 77 with a bum engine. He says he needs a LE valance, but really, he just wants one. What he NEEDS is to put his old engine back in there and get the car running. But he'd rather spend his $$$$ on useless cosmetic accessories.

He was a member of this BBS awhile ago, but a bunch of you guys, including me (and Janel, she's not a "guy"), all got on him, and he was kicked him off the forum. He's registered under a new name.

Keenan - Welcome...you'll find this forum is a bit different...I've sent you a PM...please read it.....James - I've sent you one also..

Jake - you've got a PM from me....

Nobody is going to be disparaged (by) anyone on this forum - period!

...its all about helping one another learn more about our cars...when I was 16, all I wanted was (to)have a neat car that would make the girls drool..I didn't know anything about cars - I had to learn (I remember when I spread an engine out all over my bedroom floor on my mother's white sheets & didn't know how to put it back together)...now that I'm turning 60, I see things differently....some of our younger posters might be a bit of a handful - but so were we....we'll just help them out until they get better.

oh, if you don't like what somebody is saying just ignore them (Basil tells me there's a way to block posts by them so you don't even see their posts)

Keenan.

I'm not going to start and say it all again. PUT the car together first. The money that spoiler will cost you can be put to better use building your engine and getting your car road-ready. THEN do the cosmetic touches.

And SPELL CHECK please. Download the google toolbar and use the spell check.

Thank ya son.

**end of motherly sermon**

Keenan strikes me as a good kid with ambitions for his car. Some of the details on his project are more than a little unclear or confusing (i.e., what's wrong with the old engine, that it took a dump all of a sudden and isn't rebuildable? trying to fit an earlier engine and modify it to some degree). It just seems like he's having some trouble seeing the forest because of all the trees. I dare to say all of us have been there, and many of us are frequent visitors! :p

My advice: forget the spoiler, for now. Focus on getting the car back to a running state. Do one thing at a time; it seems like you're trying to do too many things at once. That'll scatter your brains like a madman. FWIW.

Thought better of my previous post, suffice it to say that if Keenan is going to be disparaged, I'm not gonna stick around this elitist club.

Jake - don't blame the forum for the same person (lbcnut) who is posting the same kind of stuff on MGBE. I hope you give us a chance.

Welcome Keenan! I for one am happy for any new member who has a love for British Cars. We are not an elitist club. And I am very happy to see a kid with an interest in something other than Hondas with coffee can mufflers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Stick around and we'll all try to pitch in and help.

Here, Here!!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif Have a cup of tea and sit down, enjoy yourself. I've learned a lot so will you.

Its for my birthday, I'm turning 18 soon. My father and I have made a deal, about getting it earlier with a few other things.
Well, i was not aware of being kicked out, I guess just some people don't fit the crowd. But I'll try to do my best.
Until my next post,
Ciao

Not here buddy. I'll answer you. I remember wanting mags and tires for my first PU and it did not have a motor. The Mags would have made it look cool though. Just remember it is easier to get your car running then do the modifications. I have built drag cars from the ground up and it took a long time.

This is not directed at anyone in particular, but I'd ask that you all take a good read of This post.

I think most of you know where I stand with regard to personal put-downs or flames in the open forum. With 5600+ members here, there are 5600+ different personalities, and it can sometimes seem easier to herd cats than to get everyone to play nice, but please do try. Keep in mind that I started BCF over five years ago to provide British car enthusiasts with a free, and hopefully fun, place to discuss this great hobby (obsession) of ours. Of course not everyone is going to agree with how I run BCF, but whatever rules I have, and whatever administrative actions I, or the moderators, may take from time to time, are intended only to keep things light and friendly here.

Your humble servant,
Basil

Oh, the engine that I took apart & spread all over my bedroom floor on my mother's white sheets - it was a V8 out of an old '55 Chevy convertible I bought off the back lot of our dealer...I was accused of driving the mosquito spray truck it blew so much oil...

My mom found it & walked into the den and asked if my stepfather had seen what she found in my bedroom (all I could think of was my Playboy magazines)...when he said he had not, she said something along the lines of, "Well, you let him buy the **** thing - now take him out to the garage & teach him how to fix it. And, Tony, when you get paid Friday - new sheets."

That was all it took for my stepdad to teach me how to build an engine! Unfortunately, some folks don't have that option - or, we ARE their option!

Well, you learned how to build an engine from scratch, with your stepdad.
What did you learn from the Playboys?

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
On that note... goodnight.

Paul

O, I thought about bringing it in side, but my papa dont know how to rebuild them, so it would not work out like your. I just took over all of your garage to my saga. All the order parts will be in tomorrow and Ryan if all goes as plan will be here to guide and teach me how to get m baby up and running. I want to have her back on the road by the middle of next month and if I dint have a change of plan I wan t o have a complete restore 77 engine rebuild by October of 2006. I've been considering going into the national guard this year and boot camp during the summer so I don't know my summer plans for sure. Hey they pay for my first four year of college then I transfer after ROCT to the Navy and start law school.
Well I need sleep so I'm off, I hope I'm welcome and I'll make sure to spell check every thing.
Ready to learn and ready drive,
Keenan R. Bash

O Paul, you must be Canadian cause you beat me to that, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
That is a good note to end a night on. Semester test the rest of the week.

My dad and his dad were both carpenters. Knew nothing about mechanics. Guess who had to learn from many folks over a long period. However that said no one ever said don't.

My 40 Ford Conv had an 8BA block, 35/8 Alm three ring pistons, 3/58 crank. Cam from some place. Twin Stromberg 97s. Alm. heads and manafold and an overdrive trans. Never got to the rest of the goodies. Moved to Fla. with family and had to let it go for $300. Now the next car is a whole new story for another time. Chaneled and stretched 54 Ford Sunliner, hehe. Wife remembers that car.

Course stuff was cheep then remember paying $5 for the pistions and $25 for the transmission.

.I'd like to apologize to you guys for my post. I've talked to Keenan a lot off the forums, every couple of days or so since he first started all of this. I still remember the day that he ruined his old engine, and he and I tried to figure out what happened via IM.

When I posted yesterday, I was just very frustrated that he still won't take the time to spell check, on a single sentence!! I've seen him type better, and know he can do better. I didn't mean it as a "personal attack", which is how it came across.

I'd like you guys to know that I have absolutely nothing against young people getting into these cars. I think it's fantastic, and there should be many more of them.

filospinato, I won't get on Keenan's case again. I know you don't like me, which is too bad, because I think you're a good person, but I'm not going to let it bother me, and I don't think me getting on Keenan should bother you.
