I am in need of a pair of windshield mounting plates for my TR3a .

Also need the front +rear brake unions also with the brake switch.

Please let me know.

If you are talking about the plate on the body that the stanchion is secured to -- I think you'll need to specify your commission number or some description of the stancions you are fitting.

As I recall there were perhaps 3 different styles used for this part. One for the removable windscreen, one for the permanently attached windscreen and possibly one interim style for permanently attaching the earlier windscreen.

As for the brake switch -- I would think this is a part best obtained new as the used ones may be pretty tired and not function reliably (that pretty much describes mine). Possibly someone can answer: Does the brake pressure switch from a VW bug fit the TR3 union? My VW used a similar switch but I am not sure if the threads are the same. If so, those are readily available locally for about 5 bucks.
 
I believe there were only two styles of plates; one for Dzus fasteners (what I guess Geo is calling the removable windscreen) and one for threaded fasteners. The cutouts in the body changed too, so this isn't an area where it's easy to mix-n-match (though perhaps the early stanchions could be used with the threaded fasteners and plates, as the only difference in the stanchion appears to be a smaller hole).

Don't know about VW, but there is a commonly available switch that will fit; ISTR mine fit old Buicks and Fords. Given how well it lasted, though, a working original may actually be a better bet.

However, it appears that Herman still needs the unions.

as for the windshield mounting plates, it is the plate that the stanchion mounts to . If I take a pictures do you think you guys will be able to tell which model I need? I am pretty sure I need the non dzus model.

Pictures would help. Even a commission number would help, as I believe the change was at TS60001.

I took some pictures but I am having trouble uploading them. they are all larger then the limit of 100kb which seems very small. any advice?

Set up a free Photobucket account, then just link the pictures in. Works great!

Sign up at https://photobucket.com/ then click the button and follow the prompts to upload your photos. It will automagically resize as it uploads, with a free account you can select sizes to 1Mb. Once you have the photos there, if you hover your mouse over a photo, there should be a pull-down menu that says "IMG code" at the bottom. Click in the box next to "IMG code", then copy & paste that link into your BCF post. Like so:

Be durned! I guess those are the "permanently attached" stanchions that Geo was talking about. I've never seen them like that before.

Thats to bad, I was hopping that I would be able to use the type you have. Thanks for the tips on photo bucket..... it works great.

I've run across four different stanchions as can be seen in this thread. Of course, that doesn't include the aluminium ones.

Thanks you, thank you.......... so it looks like I have the straight bolt on stanchions, I will go try to bolt it directly to the car and see how it fits. I would never of thought there would be so many small changes on these tr3 that basically all look pretty similar.

I also need a WIPER MOTOR WITH LINKAGE ASAP . Does anybody have a spare unit hanging around?
I checked ebay and theres nothing.
