WANTED: MK1 Seat bottoms

While preparing for the return of the bugeye and the subsequent assembly I fould that my original seat bottoms are in sad shape. The metal rim where the vinyl clips is so thin that is can be bent vey easily and parts are missing.

I could obviously buy some from Moss/VB but I thought that I would check to see if any of you had a set laying around that you would part with for a fair price.

What years is a mark 1 again?

I think the seat bottoms (base) were the same 58-64. I need part 16-236 in the VB catalog.

Looks like I may be buying new ones from VB at around $130 each (OUCH!). I still have lots of other parts to purchase for putting the mechanicals back together so the seats will wait until winter anyway.

Ben, mine looked worse that that till I had them sandblasted.

Im not so worried about the rust on the surface its the hols on the right side where all of the clips go. That area is to soft to hold the clips for the vilyl I think.

I'd think a little welding on of some patches might do just fine. buck30 ouch is right.

May be worth a try for sure. I'll see if I can find someone that can help with that since I dont have a welder.
