I'm fortunate to still have a fairly local spring shop that can rebuild and re-arch my old springs. They'll add or subract arch as requested...re-do the heat-treat and all of this is far cheaper than ordering new stuff.

Sadly, most spring shops now buy cheap imported springs and are simply re-sellers...the old time spring shops are almost a thing of the past.

A couple years ago I broke one leaf off of the R/F spring on my Peterbilt. I was in Kansas City and it was 2:00 PM on a Friday afternoon. I was loaded with power plant parts for the hurricane damaged city of Vero Beach, FL. I had a 6:00 AM Sunday delivery appointment and obviously this was a 'hot load'.

I found a spring shop in downtown KC that rebuilt my front spring. Total cost $285.00. Got it done by 5:30 PM. WOW...I really got lucky. The owner told me he was the last shop in town that could do that kind of work.
