'74... where's th' side markers? Grill's been retrofitted too.

I ain't dingin' that car at all, just sayin' it's not "original".

It's beautiful.

It is nice, but a 74 should also have rubber on the overriders...or big "Sabrina" ones. I was thinking '72 maybe?

Bruce

I thought the earliest '74s didn't even have the Sabrina overriders.

That is correct. The 1974 model year had chrome overriders with rubber insert, then Sabrinas, then to the 74-1/2 with the rubber bumpers.

The grille would have been a "honeycomb" grill for the chrome 74 as well.

A 1972 would have had a "fishmouth" grille.

None of them 70's series would have had eared knock-offs, as they became obsolete after the 1967 model year.

Note the headrests in the car...this style appeared in 1970.

I'm standing by my comment of 1974...with owner modifications done during a respray to eliminate side marker lights and the honeycomb grille.

...he could leave it in my driveway, (with the keys!)

Steve lives in Michigan and his GT is a 1974 - the last year of chrome bumpered MGBs. (The last of the GTs exported to the North America was the rubber bumpered 1974-1/2 model....the GT was produced for the home market through the end of production in 1980).

Here's a picture of Steve's car that he had posted on his Facebook account. Should clear up what year it is.

Yup. mid to late '74. I had a '74 built in August that had Sabrina's, Man they are heavy.

my 74 built in December of 1973 had the smaller ones still.

That would be correct. Chrome overriders with rubber inserts.
