Wagons Ho!

Hey Don,

Planning on heading in to Seattle this weekend to do some exploring. Start with the standard touristy stuff like the space needle, fish market, japanese gardens, etc.

Jody

Jody,

Take Lake City Way (Highway 522),from Bothell
to Seattle.

What are you crazy.
It'll take all week end just to get from Bothell to Lake City

Boy, I was wondering the same thing (having grown up on the Seattle area). We have some nice Japanese Gardens in Portland, but I'm not sure where they are in Seattle! :yesnod: If I were betting, I'd guess they are somewhere in the Arboretum.

You know...what kind of seeds do they use to plant Ja....
Oh..never mind

Side item. Any tips, other than craigslist, on where to acquire a used truck cap/canopy up here?

The old dogs got to ride in my Mum's minivan on the way north, but will have to ride in the back of the truck for the ride south. At 13 and 12 years respectively, i think it's too much to ask of them to do so exposed to the elements.

I've got an F150 Supercrew with a short bed (66").

Jody- Had any chance of eating the best fish in the world;Copper River Salmon??

Not yet. Thought i did take the kids on an educational expedition yesterday that included the local Salmon hatchery. Not sure how much they learned, but they had fun feeding the fish. Also took 'em to the feed store in town. I sold them all on the romantic idea of owning a family farm, felt it was only fair to show them the work end of it too.

Had a little unnecessary excitement last night. Driving back up the gravel road to the cabin we went through a really narrow bit and the edge of the road fell out from underneath us. Slid down into the weeds that rapidly became a 6 foot deep muddy ditch/stream. Of course the only telephone post along this particular stretch of road happened to be 6 feet before we came to a stop.

Thanks to the crazy angle we munched the hood, lights mirror and inner/outer fender on the passenger side. With a little help from a passer by and the truck's 4 wheel drive we managed to get back on the road. No injuries, but a few changes of underwear were needed.

Now good old Mongo is at the body shop in Monroe while we cruise around in my sister's Subaru Outback (which is an awesome little car btw. Love them scoobies).

Jody,

You'll save enough in gas to pay the body shop.

That wouldn't be as funny were it not true.

Thankfully my wife convinced me this year to get "grown up insurance" on the daily drivers. Comprehensive coverage is a very good thing.

Well dah, I'm seeing "Tempe, AZ" and reading your post. I'm thinking - you're kidding of course. Then I read "Welcome to Seattle." Now I get it. Got worried that my mind was failing along with the rest of the other body parts.

I'm feeling much better now.

Glad to hear that nobody was hurt.
On the other hand,a Subaru doesn't make a very
good tow vehicle.
