My daughter's school had a car show to raise money for their school music program.

I entered the car to help the program (she plays violin) and was the First Place winner in foreign sport car.

Granted I was up against 3 other cars but I 'll take the win and enjoy it.

The competition was
2008 Tiburon (2nd) my guard buddy's new car
Mazda Miata (3rd)
Aston Martin

Had a really good turnout. About 100 cars, not bad for their first event.

A win is a win, is a win, is a win.

Congratulations!

Paul but, it still look like a one horse show . I think he should add a 0 to the three CUZ mathematically 3 + 0 still = 3. but on paper it look so much better you see.--Keoke- :jester:

Keoke,

He's at least honest enough to say how many were actually in the show, so that deserves credit in itself. But he still beat the others, so.....a win is still a win.

I won a few model car shows that way. I was the only one, or one of a very few in certian classes I entered. I still like that I won.
the only pirze I ever won at a real car show was our clubs "brown bag" award for "most loved" car. in otherwords, mine was the biggest heap that actually made it to the show under it's own power. I still loved that TR4A. And the wine was tasty.
Congrats on the win!

Thanks all,

My thought is go to the show, meet some new people and have fun. If I win its a bonus. There are some beautiful cars here in the forum and I can't compete with them. I wish that more Brit cars would show up at these small shows. I get to hear stories from people that either had one or knew someone that had one. One lady took photos and then sent them to her dad to harass him (he has a SpitIV in parts). I gave her my Vic Brit catalog to help him along.

Don,

Congratulations.

I too echo your sentiments about entering shows. In my area there are tons of car guys but the "hot rods" are the only ones that show on a regular basis.

This is where clubs can assist in getting the word out on LBC's.

Go Vyvyan!!!

Be well,

Steve

Don, you are correct. There were two shows that I attended last year, in which I did not officially enter. I have been lucky and have a small bookcase full of trophies, awards and glassware. I would rather see someone else win now. I just enjoy meeting up with friends from here or from the other clubs that I belong to.

My wife always asks "how can you guys talk about the same old boring topics so much??". I just tell her it's part of the charm of the cars and the fun of the hobby.

Paul,

Thats the thing. Even if its the same topic over and over, I love the cars and enjoy talking about them. So, to me at least its not boring. Being able to look at other Brit cars gives me more ideas on what I can do to my own car. I may never have the money to do a concourse resto but I can still dream.

Don,

95% of making a car look good is in polishing and detailing, so don't be surprised what you can or can't do with your resources. I've done a lot of it myself over the years at the dealership and on my own cars and it's amazing how a nice car can look perfect with great detailing and a perfect car can look bad with bad detailing.

Can you send me the details of the show? I've been recommending this to my kid's school.....it would be nice to show how another school did it and that it was successful
