TR2/3/3A VTR2007 Photos

Great pictures. The Southern Cross is a beauty.

I looked in your aviation album and realized I have a similar picture of the Beech Twin at the mini-golf (in fact I'm headed out on vacation today and I'll drive right past it on my way).

In the late 60s and early 70s, I belonged to the Delaware Valley Sports car Club. I *think* when that folded, some of the former members formed DVT.

Thank you for sharing those with us. It looks like it was a great event. I'll get over for one some day.

Nice pics- I snooped at the other gallery shots you have too, those are great.

Thanks,
Randy

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif Makes me even sadder I had to miss it, but man, that looks like fun! I would have been a kid in a candy store! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Thanks for posting the pictures!

It looks to me like it draws a bigger crowd when it's held on the west coast.

I'm not sure what you mean or how you come to that conclusion? I don't have numbers handy, but I think some of the best-attended VTR Conventions have been on or near the East Coast, although the relatively few West Coast conventions have also done quite well.

Actually, I think there have been very few VTR Conventions that have done poorly in terms of attendance. (Blake, it might be interesting to go back through whatever records we might have in VTR?) I also don't know how numbers compare to those of Triumphests over the years. Again, though, it's at best unfair to compare a VTR Convention to a Triumphest, since the focus is rather different (and since Triumphest is not an "official" VTR event, although several VTR Chapters, and undoubtely lots of VTR members, are involved).

Howdy Glen;

Just wanted to say /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thankyousign.gif for the pics: They are great & I`ll be viewing them often as I did`nt / could`nt make it to the VTR:

Stay dry this weekend;

Hi Andy,

I'll do some digging to see if I can locate those numbers, but in the meantime, if one looks to see where most of VTR's members reside, the states having the most members are:

CA 233
PA 227
NY 196
TX 157
FL 144
OH 124
VA 121
IL 119
NJ 113
MI 113

So, if you start drawing 450-mile circles around a National map, (that's about a eight hour drive), you can see one of the factors that contributed to DVT's very successful turnout of cars. Interesting info for sure.

I'll dig out Portland, OR and Seattle, WA numbers for comparison, but the top two conventions thus far are Ashville, NC (329) and this year's in Valley Forge, PA (319).

Cheers,
Blake

Hmmm, would've sworn I had number 340-something in Portland, and I saw numbers higher than mine.

Portland is still a long old drive from southern CA; about like driving to New Orleans from Detroit plus a few mountain passes. I only saw a handful of SoCA Triumph owners there.

I think as the Clubs start to reshape VTR into a support organization for all Triumph Clubs, there will be a VTR convention on the west coast again soon.

Point is, VTR needs the support of all the clubs in order for VTR to support all Triumph Clubs. Look as VTR to be a foundation we can build upon, not an umbrella that covers us.
