VTO wheel fit issues, help Hap!

Here's what I found out about these cars over the years, BMC, MG, AH are not very precise in their (to them) non critical clearence issues and on these associated parts varineces can quite alot, for example some MGBs outer tied rod ends are bigger than others, and some interfere with some 14" wheels, another example MGB front hubs have this ledge just outside where the wheels studs exit, this area of the hubs can vary as much as .200", some MGBs would have no issue with a 2.5" center bored wheel, while others would not clear the ledges, so all MGB wheels have to have a 3" center bores to make sure the clear the hub and sit squarely on the hub face, yet another issue, some Spridget owners have had this steering arm interference, we ran into it more with the Superlite wheel than the VTO, the VTO wheel is thinner in this area and not as much of issue, some Spridget guys have ran a tick of wheel spacer with Superliteand other alloy wheels, 1/8" would be more than enough, but not all Spridget ownners would have this issue with their car, you are the first VTO 13x5.5 Spridget customer to have this issue I know of, what works on some cars doesn't work on other due to the car inconsistencies. I always said this about these cars, it hard as all get-out to make a precision piece for a car that is not very precise, but you will be able to get clearence with a tick of wheel spacer or possibly another steering arm.

Wait, you are telling me that a budget made British sports car doesn't have exact tolerances?

If you would though, could you email me those original interference pictures, I like for Barry at VTO to see them, I trying to encourage him on doing some 14x5.5 in 4x4 bolt pattern for the Spridget, and we're learning they are other cars that could use the same wheel in different bolt pattern, so getting a run of the 14x5.5 in undrilled and then CNC drilling bolt patterns for each application would make this a viable size to have on hand. Seeing those pictures would help getting him closer to being talked into all this, he listens to me and my advice pretty good, but having all the data to share with him still helps to win over his approval. I think most 13x5.5 will work fine on most cars, but I think people will buy the 14x5.5 option as well, and Minitor already having this, I would like for VTO to have it as well as option to our Spridget and Spitfire customers.

As always thanks for the feedback, and if you still need those disc brake steering arms, email me, I'll get shipping quote and send them to you.

IF Barry does some undrilled 14x5.5, what would the offset be? That is the issue for me. I don't mind running modest wheel spacers, but I have no desire to flare the wheel arches.

I would have an interest in 14 inch SWA wheels.....
