Voltage regulator on an 8

Mine blew out on the way home yesterday - or at least I hope that's what it is. Fuel and heat pegged full, charge at zero. Since I got home at 2am, I'm not fully compos, so looking is out of the question. It would of course be unreasonable to expect me to wait until I buy the manual.

With that as a given, does anyone know:

1. where it is?
2. if replacements are available?
3. if i have it right - it's not something stupid like a fuse?

Alan,I have read that is a common occurance. Has happened to me a couple of times, though I have never seen the fuel do it. I replaced my Alt. and it hasn't been on the oad since so I can't tell you if it fixed it.

It sorta fixed itself this morning. It then happened again 2 hours later. Oh and I found out that there isn't a regulator per se.

Alan -

Mine acted similarly. Found that it was a bad ground. In my case, the ground strap from the engine to the body - scraped the new paint at the contact point, and added dielectric grease. No problems since.

I know it doesn't make sense!

So, how do you like the 8, aside from this?

It's a nice GT. It could be a nice all rounder, but it needs work.

Mine needs stiffer springs and better shocks. It wallows over bumps and it didn't like NJ and Pa roads one little bit - potholes upset it badly.

It also needs tuning - it's running pig rich, has a hard start and has nothing power wise after 110 (or about 4500rpm). I found this out in Maryland when a kid in a Supra 300ZX TT decided he wanted to blow by me. He was a bit shocked when he couldn't...

There are some other issues - the power steering is leaking, the top has a split and the seats need foam - badly.

Other than that, it's not a bad car. It eats highway.
It also gets just a hair under 25mpg at 80.

With a bit of work it'll be a great car.

The uprated spring kit will do wonders for the handling. Ride's a bit firmer, but still comfy.

And it IS nice getting that kind of mileage, indeed! I've managed to pinch 28 out of mine, while still having fun with it.
