I picked up a non running TR8 that has been off the road since 95 a few weeks ago. Surprisingly this car has been very cooperative. Did the obligatory hydraulic rebuilds and the fluid flush and drain thing. After installing a fresh battery, priming the fuel system and oil system, and a squirt of starting fluid, this thing fired right up and kept on running. Spit a couple of times and then settled into a nice idle. Haven't seen a stock carbed TR8 run this well in years, and here is a barn find that runs like a top. After the initial startup, I noticed a huge puddle of oil under the car. Turned out to be the oil pump gasket; probably why it was parked in the first place. EZ fix! Just about everything on the car worked as it should right from the get go including the clock and the seat belt buzzer. Now I'm onto the bodywork and then a silver repaint. Should have it looking as good as it runs by the end of September. I'll spend the winter detailing engine pieces and what-not.
