"If there is any appreciable slop in the butterfly shaft, an air leak will develop at this point and could detract from a potentially good idle. Such leaks will cause erratic running at low rpm and small throttle openings. but will not make any difference to the full throttle operation of the carb, so will not affect power. Worn throttle sharts on twin carb installations can produce a real headache when trying to balance the ikle airflow of each Carb" Page 79.


There ya go, I got the headache.

Remember when I said no idle below 1300 but super good over 2000, pulled nice in second and had lots of smooth power.

I just knew that if I looked awile I would find an athorative source. Not that I doughted the comments here. Just nice to know the whole story. Good stuff in that book.
