Vista

After having the vista beta here for over 6 months, I think that if you want Vista, the cheapest route would be to buy a new machine with vista on it. It does not support open gl games, heck it will not even support microsofts own expansion on AOE3. Drivers are a huge issue with older machines. I had to double the ram on the box its running on...to 2 gig, so it would stop framing in a online game I play. Personally I like xp pro better all around at this point in vista's release.........

I'm not touching vista with a 20 foot pole. Its a resource hog and the fact that its loaded with draconian DRM really has me soured on the whole thing.

Lawguy, Your computer never had a a chance with flightsimX. My 3gig dual core with 3 gig's of ram and a nvidia 6800 will not run it smooth with everything turned down as far as possible. It sucks you basicly have to have a $3000 dollar system to have a chance to get it to work right as it really does look great. On the other hand I can run 9 with everything turned up and it still looks fantastic and runs smooth as silk.

I'm staying with my Windows XP. I'll take a wait and see attitude on Vista. I'm running a Sony Vaio 3.0 ghz and 1.0 gb of ram. I back up to a second 189 gb hard drive. I also no longer have my first born as I mortgaged her to get this set-up.

With the investment I made, I am not about to tamper with it. Can't afford any problems as my first born is my only born and hubby refuses to be mortgaged.
