The guy from whom I bought my GRM car & my '63 MGB stopped by today for and visited for about an hour...he was impressed with the '68 GT:

BEFORE (when I got her):

You can't see it but her passenger fender was black & the door was white & the rocker was crushed...& she was a $200 car on the edge of being either a parts or restorable car.

NOW:

But, what he really wanted to talk about was buying this baby back:

He bought her in 1971 from the original owner with 60,000 documented miles on the clock, and put another 350,000 documented miles on her before he decided a full restoration was needed (Yes! 350,000 miles!). He only sold her to me in 2002 because of personal circumstances...now, he thinks he's over that situation & recently drove a firend's MG...he's not sure if he can make it happen but wanted to know if I'd consider letting him have her back.

I explained my plan: get Jerri's Glacier White GT off the Kwiklift & put either the '68 MGC or the '63 MGB on it...I told him if he wanted her, he could have her if he came up with the money before I started work on her (heck, all she really needs is put back together). I'd only do it for him because of his unusual connection with her.

We'll see. If he does come up with the money, I'm gonna have to find another 1st or 2nd year car. If he doesn't, I've gotta decide whether tostart on her next or on my '68 BRG MGC roadster....

Guess it depends upon the price Tony and how attached you are to it.

Looks preaty good from here.

i told 2 POs that my car "runs" good....they both said:" oh rreeaalllyy" ! haha...their loss! ; )..zimmy-vvrrooommm....

Tony,

Glad to hear the story of the PO.
If it's sincere,I think you should sell it to him.

Its nice that you're willing to consider his connection....

Years ago I had a '64 and would love to stumble across it for sale, but that isn't going to happen, not here, not now....

And unless I've invested a fair amount of time, and a little of myself in a car I don't get attached to it....

hey james how many years do u have to live with a car before you get attached? ; )...i might want a B someday and dont wanna get too attached to my midget /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif..zimmy

Depends on the car. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I've had a Peugeot 405 Estate car since 1993 that I'm pretty indifferent about /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif; and a Spitfire I had for 13 months 32 years ago that I'd really, really like back... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif alongside the "B" that I had for 6 years then sold, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif and re-bought, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif kept for another 4 years, and then sold again when I left the country.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hey...I have an idea...sell him the '63 and sell me the 68 C and take another vacation with Jerri's BGT /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

heh... I'd let the guy buy the car back if he's serious about it. If I had an alternate mode of transportation, I'd let my POs buy my B back if they ever wanted to. I see them at least twice a month. I think the're happy that the car is in the hands of someone that has the time and the ability to take care of the car. They'd like to see it remain stock, but I have my preferences and personally I think the mods I'm performing are good overall, from a reliability and performance stand point. I guess only time will tell if Tony's PO is truly serious about buying the car back, and not just one of those "I miss my B" things.

I'd only sell my cars if I couldn't feed my family. Even then, they'd make nice portable gardens with the bootlids removed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

'specially the Spider.

Yeah, there's enough room in that one for a row of corn, some string beans, a row of maters, and mehbe even a row of taters - hehehehe... Imagine seeing that driving down the road......

...on second thought don't. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Yup, you're right... that's what the El Camino's for. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
