oh man! I can't believe it! I finally figure out how to do this rally thing,(I got within 1 minute of the target time), and I get a flat tire! Dang nabit...

I have to admit, I did not think I would feel so competitive about this "game", but look out guys. This may be my first rally but I'm going for it!

You're still early enough in the rally that you could catch up!

thanks Basil, I'm going to try!

I'm hoping that all my bad luck came early. I'm guessing that a few of the leaders have been pretty lucky so far! Or maybe it's gonna take a score in the 120's to win.
Take the time to replace your fuel pump, between stages, with the best money can buy!

And then there is the pot hole issue...and flat tyres...and no chance to be a good Samaritan. To only be a few points off perfect, you have to be lucky enough to not have the random problems, or to have made a successful bribe, or both.

I lucked out on stage 4. No problems. Good thing my TR6 has overdrive though!

i must be running champion plugs......

ran into the road crew today, now I now why people gave me dirty looks when I worked on one.............

Busted! Shoot back home 3 mph over and they don't even look your way. Oh well, my luck had been holding so far, (knock on MGA floorboards). Must have misread, thought there was only one leg requiring speeding for max points (thought I already did). Must have said "at least one"

Hi Basil, exactly when does the rally end? Midnight on the 31st? Midnight on the 30th ("before the 31st")? And what time zone? Thanks, Ross

I "think" it ends midnight the 31st, based on server time, which is easter time zone, but I'll have to double check that to be sure.

Hey Basil,

After the rally is over and done do you post what the correct routes and speeds where? I think it would be interesting to be able to compare what I did with what I should have done.

I thought I had figured out how to do this rally stuff, but I have been way off the last few legs. Fortunately the judges have liked what I have been bribing them with!

No, sorry, I don't because, as I build these rallies, I save them for possible future use. So this rally may come up again some day and I don't want to give away the details.

Ross, it appears that I have it coded such that it ends when the date is greater than or equal to the end date. Thus, since the end date is 31 Jan 09, then the game essentially stops at midnight on the 30th!

This is a tough one!
Roadcrews and pot holes but I did get to meet Basil

I guess this means those of us that were running on a course due to finish exactly on the last day are now out of luck since we lost the day yesterday? No biggie if that's the case I guess, just nice to know whether we have a shot at this in the end or not.

I can change the end date tonight to give it another day.

Whew,
I was sure that replaying that leg was going to mess with all the good luck that i had going.

Nope, still lucky. put in the same route and speed, same result.

Amazingly only had one leg with trouble (fuel pump) and had one leg with a shortcut (thanks Basil!)

I don't know if i can keep up this pace, but I will try!

Rob

Shoot! That last leg I did got me 42 points, would've put me in the lead. :cryin:
