Had a great time today at our small vintage race meet, small = a grand total of 18 vintage race cars (pre-1975)

I posted some of the photos tonight, more to come, I only took about 500 photos after all /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif including my first real crack at photographing racing action and not using the ideal lens by any means.

Anyway, here is what I've posted so far at this link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/sherlock77/sets/72157601386477725/

Neat, James.

The shot of the MGA all tangled up is kinda cool.

James it was nice to meet again, and sorry if we couldn't spend more time chatting, but it is always so busy whenever I show up with the Super B. Eveyone wants to know about it and talk about when it use to race at Mosport or Edmonton.
Your photos are great as always, and the sample of prints you showed me from your portfolio are spectacular.

Now I am off to day 2 of the race meet.

@Doc

I didn't capture any major racing events, just the normal stuff, although that MGA seemed to like fishtailing around that corner almost every time...

@Mike

Have fun today, that 1962 MGB race car in the photoset is his car BTW, and it's a neat race car...

Mike, how about posting some pictures of the Super "B"? PJ

There are a few in this album, if the link works;

I am hoping James might have a couple more he will share too.
My favorite is the photo of the original racing icon, Al Pease, taking a lap with his daughter by his side, at Mosport. It had been 40 years previous that he last drove the MGB.

(this thread likely should have been in the racing folder)

Thanks Mike, the link worked very well. The photos are super. What's the make of the blower on the engine by the umbrella?

Hi Mike,

I only have the photos I've posted so far in that photoset I mentioned initially... I've sort of gotten side tracked with photos from the Pioneer Acres farm for awhile, but do plan to return to the racing photos...

I only took about 1,000 or so photos on the weekend, that's all... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif Thank goodness for digital

Yes!
Nice Pictures!
(I like the snap of the TR3 and the MGA crossed up too)

The Race City track looks like a nice little road course with good run off areas (can never have too much run off in my view).

And I went to the Western Canada Motorsports Association website to see what's happening up there....looks like there is still plenty of races left in '07.

original blower was built in 1964 by John Camden as a prototype of things to come

this is a 2nd generation Camden Supercharger ... and they still build blowers. All the original pulleys are on the engine currently in the race car.

James ... your photos are always so nice ... and as we discussed, I used to have time to take pictures, but now while at the track, I barely have time to make it to the grid sometimes. Racing without a crew is very demanding. I am sure the downloading, filing and editting of the 1000's of photographs you take is just as demanding.
But it is a passion neither of us would give up ... racing is my life in summer and photography is yours.

I don't think I will make it to the next event in Gimli. At Calgary's last race on Sunday, I lost compression in #3 cylinder. Likely broken rings. Not enough time to rebuild the heart before the next event, and not enough cash to complete the blower engine. (It is just a mule block ... no internals yet)

That's too bad Mike... Hope you get the car ship shape soon

More vintage racing photos? Haven't gotten around to it yet, too busy with other stuff, er... yeah... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
