Wanted Vin nr Austin Healey 3000 BJ7 1964

Patrick,
According to Anderson and Moment's book, the car's chassis number should be stamped on the right front shock tower.

A body number from Jensen should be found stamped on a tag in the engine compartment. That number does not match the chassis number.

A common reference number consisting of a letter and three digits is stamped on the hood latch bracket and on various body panels including the splash panel, and trunk lid prop bracket, and is often found written in crayon on the drive shaft tunnel over the paint. This number does not match the car or body numbers.

Serial numbers also were stamped on the transmission, overdrive, and rear axle. These numbers did not match other numbers on the car.

The car also had an engine serial number, which does not match the chassis number.

If you can't find a chassis number, but have any of these other numbers, they may be useful in obtaining a British Motor Heritage Certificate which would show the chassis number.

That's more info than you were asking for, but perhaps it will help in figuring out the chassis number for your car.

Good luck!
