I recall poppies from my youth, Tony. My gran ALWAYS got 'em. He was too young to serve in WW-i, but lost a cousin and an uncle. Both his sons served in WW-II, my Ol' Man in Eurpoe, his bro in Hawaii. Poppies must have fallen from favor with "our" war.
I live a few dozen yards from a Veterans' Park. Always a good place to take a walk and contemplate. Tomorrow even more so.
I recently reconnected with a fellow 601st Photo "Phlyin' Photog" after 30+ years. I found him onna 'net. He and I were flying missions with 8th TFW on August 15, 1973. We walked to that park from the hovel, walked up to a "LOCH" and looked at one-another... "We were absolutely NUTS!" says he. Then to a Slick... "yup." sez I.
We both concluded the ones on display were smaller than what we remember'd ridin' in.
