[OK OK, this might skirt the boundaries but there is no DIRECT bad taste... right? :yesnod: Besides, it's a very OLD joke.]

A ventriloquist cowboy rides into town and sees an Indian sitting on his porch with his dog.

Cowboy: Hey, cool dog. Mind if I speak to him?

Indian: Dog No Talk.

Cowboy: Hey dog, how's it going?

Dog: Doin' all right.

Indian: [extreme look of shock]

Cowboy: Is this your owner? [pointing at Indian]

Dog: Yep

Cowboy: How's he treat you?

Dog: Real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food, and takes me to the lake once a week to play.

Indian: [look of disbelief]

Cowboy: Mind if I talk to your horse?

Indian: Horse No Talk.

Cowboy: Hey horse, how's it going?

Horse: Cool.

Indian: [extreme look of shock]

Cowboy: Is this your owner? [pointing at Indian]

Horse: Yep

Cowboy: How's he treat you?

Horse: Pretty good, thanks for asking. He rides me regularly, brushes me down often, and keeps me in the barn to protect me from the elements.

Indian: [total look of amazement]

Cowboy: Mind if I talk to your sheep?

Indian: Sheep Lie!

Eye!! :yesnod: I see you're in Glasgow. Was there last year visiting our friends that live on Bute (not too far from Glasgow and Grenock - but with a pesky ferry inbetween). We see them every few years.

Last time I was in Glasgow......pulled in to Faslane....was, oh, 1973. Dang. That's almost 40 years ago.

It's grown quite a bit... but the sleepy rural areas are eternal. James will certainly know much more.

Bute is an island off the coast (not far) and is only about 5 miles wide by 20 miles long. Farming and I doubt the main town (Rothsay) has changed much in 75 years. It's a popular vacation spot too. We manage to get there every 4 years or so (though I present trip to France in 2 weeks won't include the UK).

School out for the summer,James? :jester:
Yes,Bute is a pretty place to visit. All along the mainland there is good LBC country too.
There used to be a ferry from Rhubodach on Bute,to Colintraive on the mainland.

Stuart.

Yes, we have visited the Mt. Stuart home a couple of times now (and it's grounds). I believe that Stella McCartney was married there many years ago (when Sir Paul rented the place out). Richard Attborough owns a place on the north end by that small, other, ferry.
We've crawled all over the island, and our friend's husband is a well-known farmer/plowman there. They live in Kilchatten Bay (sp?) near the south end of the island. It's an idyllic place as a one road town along the waterfront.
On our last visit, we took that stern-wheeler boat (can't remember the name) that leaves out of Rothsay and runs around the north end the island and makes a few stops. It was a nice, leisurely sort of trip.
Green grow the rashes oh. :yesnod:
